Synopsis

Carisa Stansfield had no idea that inheriting the largest farm in town and five million dollars included visits from a spirit friend, a cold murder case, and her family being thrown into chaos.

Her eldest son Michael and the town tough guy destroyed the gravestones of a family of seven who died in 1905. The  spirit “visits” as they call them, seem to come when the last remaining Tillman plays his harmonica. Oscar Tillman is dying of cancer and hopes to live long enough to see the restoration of the family cemetery.

The five million dollar inheritance is controlled by Carisa’s abusive husband, Elliot, who is tormented by Jeb Tillman, the patriarch of the spirit family. Elliot is an alcoholic, moved into the barn, and is of no help to Carisa. Her only solace is her spirit friend Amelia, the wife of Jeb Tillman.

Carisa struggles to keep her family together while juggling the problems of her two oldest kids and barely caring for the needs of her two youngest. Michael attempts suicide twice and Ellie, her eldest daughter, gets suspended from school for sharing a quick kiss with her girlfriend in the school hallway. In the process of Michael and the other vandal, Jax, being encouraged to admit to the vandalism and make things right, several deaths occur and secrets are revealed. Secrets like the murder of two young children, one committed by the son of a preacher, and the other by a troubled boy who is desperate to make things right. The setting is the Appalachian foothills at the terminus of Lookout Mountain.
